“In late 2000 Greg Long & Chris Edmundson started screen printing tee shirts and working out of the basement of Greg’s house to help showcase some of their friends artwork. It was a great way to help promote the local San Francisco art scene and get their minds off the drudgery of their day jobs. One of those friends was up and coming artist Tim Biskup. Tim and Greg had met each other through mutual friends years ago satisfying their pallets at their favorite watering holes. Tim’s paintings were filled with offbeat characters that ranged from cute to disgusting, yet were always oddly very desirable. Greg and Chris offered to put one of their favorite characters the Gama-Goon on a tee, and the beginnings of Gama-Go was born.

People really seemed to love the Gama-Goon tee, said Long, the companies Co-Founder and Creative Director. Since I had known Chris & Tim for so long, I figured they might be open to creating something more then just a few tee shirts. And so they did. Greg was an experienced art director, Tim had a limitless imagination, and Chris had a back ground in brand development. They decided to base their base their partnership around the success of their first tee shirt collaboration. After all they had sold all 36 of those Gama-Goon tees! Gama-Goon, Inc. didn’t seem quite sum up the partnership they were about to form, but a shorter version of that name seemed perfect. In May 2001, Gama-Go, Inc. was officially in business.

Based out of San Francisco Gama-Go has become an unconventional worldwide success. Led by its founders sense of design, humor, and bold color palette, the company has attracted an almost cult like following with people who love Gama-Go’s witty take on everyday life. Having started from just six tee shirts less then 5 years ago, Gama-Go has expanded beyond tees to everything from accessories to pajamas and even stationery. Available in 250 stores in the U.S. and internationally, Gama-Go can be found in premiere boutiques around the globe.”
